apprupt equips stern.de iPhone app with new app recommendation format

Contvertising technology integrated into another Gruner & Jahr title

Hamburg, January 11th, 2011 – apprupt, the first performance network for mobile applications, has gained another strong partner for its mobile publisher network. Building upon the existing working relationship with Financial Times Deutschland, when apprupt integrated the context-sensitive Contvertising format and an app shop into their mobile website early last year, the stern.de iPhone app represents another Gruner & Jahr title in the apprupt publisher network.

The stern.de app, one of the first German news apps since the launch of the Apple App Store, currently has about 791,000 unique mobile users in the German mobile web market which makes it Germany’s leading mobile news application.* The app recommendation formats by apprupt have now been implemented into the iPhone app. Among other things, users of the app get contextual app recommendations within the article as well as on the homepage of the app and can obtain detailed information on all the recommended apps in the integrated App Shop. apprupt’s app recommendations, in particular the Contvertising format, promise publishers an additional monetization option for their mobile traffic as well as the attraction of adding value to the product.

“The current cooperation with stern.de emphasises that our inhouse developed Contvertising technology has already established itself within the market during its first year, as a complementary format for monetization in the mobile premium publisher segment,” explains Jascha Samadi, managing director and founder of apprupt GmbH.
